Local Professional Ballroom Dancers Win National Title

Professional Ballroom Dancers Win the US National Rising Star American Ballr oom Title Just 5 Months After Car Accident

St. Paul, MN, October 12, 2008 - Eric and Michelle Hudson out-danced 20 top ranked couples to win the title of U.S. National Rising Star American Ballroom Champions in Orlando, Florida on September 8, 2008, only 5 months after Michelle Hudson was struck by a car while walking across Snelling Avenue in St. Paul.

"This was very exciting for us. We've worked so hard for this, and the effort paid off," Eric Hudson said. "Winning such a prestigious title in the ballroom wo rld is a great honor." Andrea Kuzel, a student of Eric Hudson's, said "They are t wo of the most dedicated, hard-working people I know. When they dance together, t hey have such great chemistry and beauty - they're unstoppable competitors."

Dance partners for three years, husband and wife for two, Eric and Michelle are dance instructors at and owners of Cinema Ballroom in St. Paul, Minnesota, a danc e studio specializing in partner dance instruction. The Hudsons have been trainin g intensely to win their new title, traveling to San Diego, Washington, D.C. and M ontreal to train with some of the top ballroom coaches in the world. The pair is well known on the national ballroom competitive circuit, where they compete with t heir students as well as with each other.

As a result of their win, they have been invited to dance and compete in Mexico at the end of October. They will also be vying for a spot in the finals at the W orld Championships held in Columbus, Ohio this November. The finalists in the Wor ld Championships will appear on the PBS televised broadcast "America's Ballroom Ch allenge" in February 2009.
